Biography - Thom Osborn

Previous film GETTING READY (written, produced, directed, edited and partly shot by me), was screened internationally at festivals; at the Whitechapel Open, the ICA and the Lux Cinema; on German TV; and was on a Lux Centre touring package. Short video, SRS BEING, (made while learning digital editing), was screened at the Lux.

BLEMISH (written and directed by me, and co-produced with Berkeley Cole of Remote Films) is just finished - May 2004.

Past lives in medicine, theatre, group work and circus. A doctor for three years, moved on with no regrets. Moved off the (amateur) trapeze, due to own ageing process, some years ago with continuing regret!

Present lives in the theatre, group work and film.

Director of a score of (professional) theatre productions; one-time Literary Manager at the Royal Court; performance in various shows including own solo show; writing and translation for theatre and circus; teaching of mask, clowning, improvisation and performance skills to a wide variety of people.

Co-designed and ran two renowned courses, in group work and in counselling, for mature students, with a large element of student-direction.

I have played small parts in several films. I did several training workshops at the London Film Makers Co-op. I taught a frequent weekend workshop at the Lux Centre ("Directing Performers"); and was on the executive of the LFMC during 1995/6.
